Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden is reportedly “super frustrated” that he hasn’t been consulted about any of the Redskins moves this offseason. When Safety Landon Collins signed a six-year deal with the ‘Skins earlier Gruden heard the news from the media, not from the front office.
According to Eric Bickel of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. Bickel says Washington’s president, Bruce Allen, made the decision to sign Collins on his own without consulting or even informing coach Jay Gruden, who found out about the signing via text message from a media member.
The Redskins have also re-signed running back Adrian Peterson to a two-year deal and let pass rusher Preston Smith and wide receiver Jamison Crowder. They also cut linebacker Zach Brown and defensive tackle Stacy McGee.
“I’m told he’s not being consulted on any of these moves, as of Friday,” Bickel reported this morning. “Maybe that changed over the weekend. But I’m told he heard about the Landon Collins signing through the media. A guy in the media texted him. He’s super frustrated. Bruce is calling all the shots. They’re not consulting Jay at all. As of Friday, Jay was like, ‘We have so many needs. We need linebackers. We need outside receivers. We need all these things.’ And they have basically signed a backup quarterback and Landon Collins. That’s about what they have done so far in free agency.”
The Redskins are also reportedly in negotiations for Bengals wide receiver and cornerstone AJ Green and offensive tackle Ereck Flowers.
If this reporting by 106.7 The Fan holds true, it shows that D.C. still doesn’t know how to run a front office or put a winning product on the field. If the Head Coach and the front office buttheads it really shows how big of a joke this organization is and discourages other free agents from coming to Washington.
