Love Wins: Doolittle supports LGBT community by wearing special-made cleats

Sean Doolittle and his wife Erin have always been known to reach out and support the LGBT community during their time spent here in DC since he arrived via trade in 2017.

Doolittle announced on June 1 that he would be wearing special rainbow cleats in support of the LGBT community.

To my LGBTQ friends and family – we love you, support you, and we’re grateful for you. I’m proud to celebrate and stand with you because everyone deserves to feel safe and free to be who they are and to love who they love.

“Happy #Pride ! To my LGBTQ friends and family – we love you, support you, and we’re grateful for you. I’m proud to celebrate and stand with you because everyone deserves to feel safe and free to be who they are and to love who they love,” Doolittle tweeted. “Love is love.”

The shoes are mostly red with rainbow stripes across the front left shoe. In addition, the right shoe contains the transgender flag on the front. Once June concludes, the Nationals closer will auction the shoes off to benefit SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders), an organization that supports LGBT youth.

Doolittle also offered his thoughts on Pride Month in a short Twitter thread. Doolittle also expressed his support for the LGBT community and said that he is ‘grateful’ that the Nationals organization supports the LGBT community.

In the past Doolittle has supported many organizations in the area including the LGBT community. Last season he wore a “Love Wins” t-shirt to All-Star Game red carpet parade.

Editor’s Note: DC Sports Struggles does not endorse any side of this controversial issue. DC Sports Struggles views Doolittle’s tweet and cleats as news and we view it as our job to report news around DC Sports.
